A holding tank and a septic tank are the same thing. a septic tank is a big cement holding tank where the waste breaks down and then is overflowed into the septic field. Our holding tanks act the same way as long as we do not put or pour things into it that destroys the bacteria.The difference is we have to empty the holding tank usually before the complete breakdown occours. I never empty a black tank untill it is nearly full. A proper working vent will keep the smell out.

RE: 225/70R19.5 Versus 8R19.5
I put 225/70's on the front and left the 8R's on the back. I think I'll keep it that way when I replace the rear tires.
Exactly what I have done over the last 4 changes. I keep them about 2 years apart so I buy 4 tires and then 2 about 2 years apart it keeps some of the sting out of the costs.

Pulling a small utility trailer
I am looking for a small 5X8 trailer to load a 500 lb. motorcycle on. I will use it as a toad much of the time. I had thought about a cycle carrier but it will exceed the weight of my hitch by nearly 100 lbs.
A small trailer will carry the weight just fine. I will stay away from the inexpensive box store type trailers. I am looking at 1 that is made by Sure Trac it has the drop tail for loading and seems well built. As always I seek the opinions of those of you with experience so tell me what to watch for and if you pull a small trailer are there any problems.

I don't understand why someone would go out and buy something new that you know you will overload. If it were me and I just had to have this MH, I would ask the dealer to upgrade the hitch to a 7500 lb one and make sure you get the documentation DANGLE THE CARROTT.

I got a good deal on 6 of the ekobrew reusable K-cups so we fill them with our home blend and the 6 of them will last without having to get up and clean them during coffee time. It is pretty inexpensive over time and very tasty to use our own coffee.

Hi All.
Well, we sure fel for you. We also have had a Covered RV Port at every home we have ever bought. We also made darn sure we could keep our RV's on are own property before we ever put any money down on any home.
For us anyways, we would never buy a home, if we could not keep our RV's at home. For us ayways, it just doesn't make sense to have to make payments to keep your RV at any storage places. You would never, ever be done paying for it.
We have also paid cash for every RV we have ever owned. Never would we even own an RV, if we had to pay to keep it stored off property. For us anyways, its so much easier to buy a home where you can keep your RV at home and not have the extra bills for off property storage.

I've read this twice, and I can't find anything in this post that's at all relevant to the OP's question. They obviously made a choice of homes based on their own priorities. Onsite storage of their RV was something they decided to compromise on.

I almost responded but decided better. You are right I decided on a small lot so we can travel more and worry less about keeping the S&B up. I have a very nice home and only have to walk across the drive to get to the MH. But as we age and family is farther away it gets difficult to keep it all up. So we made the choice to consolidate and move to the city ( big city of Richmond Mi that is) we are good with our choice and fine with having the comprimise of storing the MH off site. I do think much of the summer and fall we will be traveling or parking the MH at a friends cabin with 20 acres. My inquiry was a simple request to get more information from those that have had the experience of storing maybe dodge a pitfall or 2 thanks for all that have responded . Thanks also to Ryanallie1 for your response a bit off topic as it were.

Gated, individual pass code entrance to outside storage - gate turned off from 10 PM - 6AM, in Brighton Mi, $46 / mo
I am finding very similar pricing here in Richmond. 10% less if I pay 6 mo. in advance. Gate pass code operates 6AM to Midnight 7 days only 5 miles from home. I will do a search on the place and see if anything comes up about them as far as a review.Nice place with paved parking and seems like good security.

I grew up in the late 40's early 50's without any of those things. The first TV was a little round screen. My DW as a girl had no indoor privy. My grandparents lived in a remote area without electricity and used propane powered lights,refer and stove.
I remember those days fondly and I would welcome them back. I could do just fine without all the things mentioned

MH storage costs
We finally sold the stick and brick with the acerage , barns and all the work to keep it up. Yea.. We are in the process of getiing a stick and brick in the city, with only a 70 X 130 yard. The biggest RV change will be that we can no longer keep our MH at the new SB.At the old place it always sat right there ready to go. I have never had to look for a facility to store the MH so I am looking for advise from those that do. What to look for as well as what is a reasonable Mo. rate.

PropAne gensets are problematic. They are downrated as compared to the same unit that runs on gasoline. I do not know of any current DP that uses a propane gennie. Do not start well in cold weather. I would NEVER even look at a unit with one of those gennies!

Actually my propane genny has not been problematic at all. It is close to 20 years old now. It is the same generator as the gasoline powered but is set up to run propane. It is much cleaner burning than gas or diesel and puts out less emissions. The Propane burning Hi lo that I had for my shop was also very clean running and had very few problems. They do tend to burn more fuel as the propane burns at a lower BTU. and you do have to have additional capacity for propane.
Now to ask you the question that should be answered. Are you looking at an older MH that fits all your needs and wants with the exception of the genny ? and so you plan to do a lot of dry camping. I would not let the propane genny. be the deciding factor about the choice of a MH that I really liked.
On the other hand I wouold prfer the Diesel because I already am burning Diesel in my motor but 20 years ago they didn't use a lot of Diesel Gennys.

I used to be of the mind that my reflex was faster and that mydriving skills better than most. That was a justification to go faster than the rest. I now know better. My reflex not as good but my experience is far greater than before. I stay right around the spped limit, stay out of the fast lane except to pass and try to maintain a flow with the other traffic. If I find myself in a speed pack I hang back and let them go on. If I run late I call ahead and inform those that are waiting for me. Tickets are expensive but you can recover poor driving that can result in death or injury is not acceptable.

A Big jump in Michigan yesterday almost 20 cents in an hour. then Diesel jumped up above gas by a dime. I swear these guys are pushing us hard. Some may be near the can't do it anymore state.

Our old B5.9 is tweaked up a bit from 230 to 300 HP. It turns in a constant 10.5 mpg and at 55 I can get 11. As wolfe10 pointed out you can read these numbers over and over for many years now.

It depends here on where you look one corner Diesel is .29 more and down the road a couple cents less then another corner gas and diesel is the same. I have never seen such huge swings corner VS corner. Hoping against hope it will go down but really knowing better. Going to use a Motorcycle as a toad this year.

We started our camping season last year in Pa. We spent several days in the Amish area of Intercourse and Bird in the hand. Many little craft shops and lots of Amish hand made products. As mentioned by others we enjoyed a couple of days at Gettsburg much history there. We got to gettysburg about the time a lot of children were on their class trips so much hustle going on. We also spent a long day at the Railroad museum nearby and got a lot of interesting information about the railroads including a short trip on an old steam engine through the PA countryside. On the way back we swung through Hershey and took the chocolate factory tour. All in all I thought we had a great time and kept busy . Also don't miss one of the great Amish resturants such as Shady Maple. Great comfort food.

I have used Happy Camper and Digest-it. Happy Camper is great, but I think Digest-it is better. I have a clear section in my dump line and when I dump it is nothing but liquid, not even as much as a piece of paper.
Would I have problems if I didn't use it? I don't know and don't want to find out.
OK I will give not my opinion but fact
The fact is my MH is 19 years old. It has never had any treatment in the black tank. Fact is it has never been plugged up or had the poo mountain. It is vented properly and the seals are maintained and changed on the toilet so there is no smell except at dumping. Fact is a black tank is a holding tank and not a septic tank. Fact is that people that have problems with there tank use too little water and dump way too often. My tanks are not dumped untill they are near full and for the black tank that means I dump the gray about 3 times to every black tank dump. If they are on sale I will get some of those deoderizor pellets and throw one in just to keep the smell down when it is dumped.
