RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

The bottom line is that NASCAR did their job, and did it in a very professional manner. It's what I've come to expect, and it's a big part of why I'm a big fan of NASCAR.

RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

Wille, u been checked for cataracts lately?
I depend on a TV camera being aimed at the total incident, AND the replays of the subject event. Then, I will anticipate that NASCAR will take statements from the parties, then review the replays again, and apply the rules (or interpretation of rules).
What I see, and what I say, is OK for BSing around the campfire. Afterall, I'm just a fan now, retired from racetrack operations.
My eyesight is fine, and my heart is fine (mechanically).
What do you think happened? Which NASCAR rules did Kurt violate?

RE: why we love Mexico

The reason that some of us don't travel into Mexico anymore is because we are fearful (we're skeered). Or, you might say we're not as brave as others.
For me, the way I get over my fears is to be as armed as the enemy. IMO this balance has a way of making a strong statement to the bad guys. IMO it prevents a number of potential gun fights.
Don't get me wrong. I actually believe that I have no enemies. But, apparently there's too many criminals who don't seem to care.
I'm a Texan, with family ties to Delicias and Camargo and Parral. I miss my trips to the airport at Delicias (in my own airplane). I've spent time in some beautiful places in Mexico.

RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

NASCAR can't decide what to do with Kurt Busch (penalty-wise). They normally make an announcement by this time.
I can't quite figure out what he did wrong either. What I saw is that he had a tire go down, lost control, and went up and bounced off the wall.

RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

If down force is going to cause Nascar to run races that are 3 green flag pit stops in a row like we are now seeing, and if Nascar is going to rely on Danica to sell tickets, than Nascar should be happy with the kind of "drama," that Kurt Busch is providing.
The Kurt Busch dust up is the story of the week, not Hendrick's 200th win. What does that tell you?
It's simple,...... like I've said before:
People are nuts.

RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

According to Jayski's, Nascar doesn't have anything on Kurt yet. Pendelton has stated that Newman's gas man lost his footing and ended up on Kurt's car hood. He also said they had not talked to Kurt yet. If Kurt was speeding in the pits he would've been penalized on the spot. Smoking the tires when leaving your pit is not a violation of rules. But, it's all in NASCAR's hands. We'll see.

RE: Kurt Bush snaps again....

Yeah, it's his nature. As a fan of Kurt Busch, I say it's no big deal.
IMO he's an inspiration to his younger brother. IMO Kyle has learned from his big brother that you should not keep making those million-dollar mistakes.
I appreciate Kurt 'cause he's one heck of driver, and puts on a show.

RE: Can you bear to part with your "man toys"?

Every time I find the Harbor Freight Tools coupon sheet (inserted in newspaper), I start circling(hi-lighting) all the items that I will check out when I go there (it's next door to the Walmart where I buy gas and diesel).
I don't much think whether I need an item or not. I think in terms of if I MIGHT need it some day.

I understand it very well, having experience similar scenarios many times.
But now, things have changed. It's just not worth going into Mexico anymore,......not for me anyway.

RE: Can you bear to part with your "man toys"?

It's one of the main reasons that fulltiming in our big motorhome was doomed. I've got a lot of stuff, and my wife is the same. Heck, if I could afford it, I would have a much bigger place, and a lot more stuff.
Yet, we realize that we need to start getting rid of most of it (can't stand the thought of it).
Can you imagine putting off getting rid of my T-hangar? It's 500 miles away, and I haven't opened it in 3 years(it's full of stuff too). I just don't have the energy anymore.

RE: Danica

She isn't a competitive driver and never will be. But she was brought into NASCAR for a reason. Her actions are scripted for crowd appeal or disgust....either adds to the NASCAR ratings :)
Just like JR. He's a hasbeen but has crowd appeal and is a definite asset to NASCAR viewers.
You hit it exactly. NASCAR is a business first and a 'sport' second. Many now say it no longer is a sport, merely a scripted entertainment show.
Does this mean that Brad the Brat failed to read the script? Clearly, it was Matt Kenseth who was supposed to win the Cup race.

RE: Danica

I don't have a problem with who she is, what she's doing, nor how she's doing it.
And, I don't have a problem with the way the media and sports commentators treat her.
I know how to judge the driving talent of the drivers, and I enjoy doing it. I also enjoy the total production of the NASCAR show. I fully realize that, and expect, that some races are much better than others. I've been involved with motorsports for 55 years.

RE: Danica

Danica is one smart cookie, and successful at what she does (the way she does it). But, she doesn't have what it takes to be a NASCAR champion driver. She has everything else,....... why hold it against her?

RE: Outback Steakhouse - Thumbs Down

After watching their latest TV commercial, it makes me want to go eat a steak. They sure do great commercials.
BTW I had a terrific margarita at Outback,.....after I added a shot of tequila. But, I gotta confess, that's the way it is at all restaurants (re margaritas).

RE: Your opinion on ugly current model car front ends?

There's never been a Cadillac, or a GMC, grille that I did not like. And, I don't recall a Chevy grille that I didn't like.
Ford has had MANY wonderful grilles, starting with the 1932.

RE: Is this a general issue? Pic inside

Someone stole the pin and the ball mount. He was able to borrow a ball mount, but no pin. This will have to do until he can find a place to buy a pin. Just gotta take it easy, hope he's almost as good as me (I'm the best driver in the USA).
Have you ever been stranded? Not me.

RE: Lucky

There are thousands of people who run into bad luck,....all sorts of unfortunate happenstance. Then, there are those who have good luck,....a broad range of description, all the way to winning a big lotto jackpot.
Many are victims of bad accidents, or get struck down with some sort of dread decease.
Yes, I believe in "luck". If you are a victim, perhaps you might see someone else as being "lucky". It's all relative.

RE: Outback Steakhouse - Thumbs Down

For those of us who believe in evolution; what explains this food problem is evolution. There are fewer and fewer people who know good food when they see it/eat it. There's more and more business managers who recognize this particular evolution.
And, it's what explains (to me) why there would be a line of people waiting to eat junk food.
