RE: Aluminum Wheels? Upgrade?

Aluminum wheels need more care on keeping lug nuts properly torqued. Only con I know, but as said, watch pressure rating!.

RE: Sell or trade in

On all TT's we've sold we got best deal possible on new TT, then got best tradein offer we could. While awaiting new TT we advertized and sold old TT privately for much more than dealer would give as trade in. You can't lose by trying seems to me. If nobody bites before new unit is ready, take tradein.

RE: Dexter EZ lube hubs

Heat expansion, don't worry about it. If you would have had hard metal bearing covers, you would have blown them off. Sounds like the rubber nipples worked fine. Might try to work the edge to get the air out.
Me too on this. I've had it happen also.

You didn't say which model, but we love our Outback 230RS toyhauler. Only about 8500 miles so far, but looking good.

RE: Turned my bunk room into a walkin closet

Our Outback came with a queen fold down bed in the garage. Had dealer remove it before we picked up new TT. Entire front now has closet rod, so about 8 feet of closet instead of one. Wife loves it.

RE: ARRGG...! De-winterized the camper, now it is snowing...!

Yup, TT is about ready to go, except for the snow. On the other hand it has been scary dry. It would not hurt my feelings if we got several FEET of wet snow, but I doubt we will be that lucky.

RE: please advise - tt storage

Never take our tires off the ground except to replace them. Maybe if I stored it for several years ...
No tire troubles except a few repairable nail punctures in over 200,000 miles with various non-Chinese ST tires.

RE: Sewer Hose Freezing

If it will get below freezing I empty AND STORE hose. One time I emptied hose, but left it in place on ground. Next morning all the little bits of ice inside the hose kept it from squashing up like it should. We did NOT make a fast exit that day. Never done it again, I know better now.

RE: Front seems like it is drifting, went to CAT scales

Why not try 4 links first. Our Expedition has P tires and tows our TT fine with an Equalizer hitch.
Also can we assume you actually weighed everything so you know the tongue weight is between 13 and 15% of the FULLY LOADED TT weight? Is the TT level or a touch low in front?

RE: Insurance for travel trailer

Have State Farm on house and 3 cars. Priced TT insurance with them, AARP Hartford, and GMAC with Good Sam. GMAC was by FAR the cheapest. Note State Farm was cheapest for home and cars, go figure.

RE: dolphining???

Any good hardware store should have HARDENED washers for hitch.
Usual cause is tongue weight not adjusted to be 13 to 15% of ACTUAL MEASURED FULLY LOADED TT weight, or improperly adjusted Equalizer. Often too few washers, as you suspected.

RE: Full steel belted tires

Be careful about BUYING from the Tire Rack however. They will not guarantee age of "new" tires they sell. Could be YEARS old. Ask them what age they will guarantee.

RE: Our dog made us pay for our mistake

Crates and dogs are funny. We had an oversized (giant?) crate for our German Shepherd, as he couldn't curl up at all. Our Aussie joined us after our German Shepherd passed away, and moved right in. He looks funny in there, especially curled up in the back, I think there is room for at least three Aussies in that crate, but he's happy.

RE: wdh setup question

Sorry, good question, I didn't keep previous numbers on weights. I DO know I add washers until front and rear of TV drop by about the same amount. Only a bit more drop in rear. Some say that method is no longer valid, but it has worked great for me for over 100,000 miles with my Equalizer so I use it.

RE: 2011 Jayco Eagle util center bypass valve stripped

Happened to me once on last TT. Problem was screw holding handle on backed out a bit. I turned handle slowly while pushing in a bit. Once in right spot, handle slipped down a bit further, locking into slot. Tightened screw to keep handle on. Problem solved. Only thing making it hard was valve could be felt but was real hard to see. Tightening screw took a few choice words about the designers ancestory.
Hope yours is that simple.

RE: Trailer towing question

Mentioned above, but perhaps elaboration will help. VEHICLE (not hitch) rating is normally 10% of the tow weight rating. Ask Chevy to be sure on yours. If tow weigh rating is 7200#, that would yield a 720# max tongue weight. You need at least 13% of thhe FULLY LOADED TT weight on the tongue. It is easiest to use 13% of the TT GVWR, as most folks load nearly, or over, the GVWR.
So if 720# is the tongue weight, the FULLY LOADED TT weight is 5,538#. If you assume 1000# of stuff, which is a common number, the TT UVW needs to be under 4500# for your TV.
I know that is discouraging, but at least you now have some idea of the problem.
Also you CAN use UVW, plus say 1000#, if you want. Dealer add anything, any dealer options? Mine came with no battery included in the UVW. Propane weight, water heater water weight? Any fresh water? You will be surprised at how fast it adds up.
