You should have a chasis maintenance book, it will spell out all maintenance and the intervals. My guess would be that CW recommended maint plus the oil and lube will be several hundred dollars.

I installed the "Safe-T-Plus" last fall prior to going to FL for the winter. I wanted something to specifically help me in case of a blow out, if I got some extra handling help as a by-product that would be good. After talking with a local RV guy (not a dealer) who gave his take on both the steer safe and safe-t-plus, I decided on the safe-t-plus. His evaluation was that while both appear to work equally well, he was leery of the steer safe with all the springs and other parts exposed to the rigors of weather etc. as opposed to the shock type piston device. Safe-t-plus is nearly double that of steer safe, so it's a matter of choice.
