RE: Can I cut a hole in the side of a Journey

Have you seen the nice entertainment centers that came as standard equpment on the DL model. My 2002 Journey has one. Under the awning side. Lift compartment and its all there, no cutting holes. You might want to take a look at one and use it as a template in you plans. Good suggestion. I copied where Newmar put it in from the factory - I installed a bigger TV than available from the factory, saved a bunch of $$$, and had a good time doing it. Started with this: http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t63/lppartsopen/Entertainment%20Center/100_1043.jpg Ended up with this, with no holes cut: http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t63/lppartsopen/Entertainment%20Center/100_0287.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t63/lppartsopen/Entertainment%20Center/100_0288.jpg

RE: What would you do?

So I've been thinking...no, really, I have :B; since there was nothing on the web site and no one said anything to you on check in, the only logical answer is the rules they gave you are outdated and you are more than welcome at their park. Enjoy your stay.

RE: thinking of buying this m/h, any advise//

I see nothing that a few hours with a buffer won't fix. Well...that and some duct tape. :B On a serious note; if you have the time and ability it does look like it might be a fun project.

RE: Annual Spring Gathering @ Turning Stone, May 18-20th,2012

bruce, I will you chip in for your "Diesel Fund"! There...fixed it for you. :B Seriously though, if you need fuel when you're close I'd suggest getting at TS. Normally they're lower than anyone around and it's easy in, easy out. Just a few miles down the road from the camp ground. SavOn Stores

RE: Tire size variations from vendor spec

Razor1949 has this one right. 255/80's are too small. It NEEDS 275/70's on it, and was recalled to put them on.

RE: TPO roofs inthe hot sun???

And I believe your '99 Bounder had a true rubber roof - I could be wrong. The newer TPO type material is much better than the EPDM rubber material used in the past.

RE: poorly done ad by Newell

Just noticed the back cover of the May issue of FMCA magazine. Newell always buys the back cover space. This month they show their coach driving down a beautiful country road in what appears to be the Swiss Alps. Only problen is they were too cheap to actually take a coach there for the photo shoot. Obvious photo shop picture. Newell, Cheesy. Maybe it is a shot of the Trinity Alps in Northern California? JH And if that is the case who looks cheesy now? Oops...:o Another example of some people aren't happy until they have something to complain about. I have to admit, this one goes the extra mile in creating an issue just to complain.

RE: Winnebago Factory Defect

I've never heard of an entire roof or a part of the roof separating from the roof itself and flying off, and I doubt it could happen. It can happen, and does. Example Second time posted Happened while parked Another One more... How about some pictures? http://photos.ecarlist.com/PS/33/LT/pZ/OU/Fl/YZ/4i/UY/JK/jg_640.jpg http://photos.ecarlist.com/ZA/Xn/Cu/f7/mF/5U/Tr/2B/xO/fr/Jw_640.jpg http://photos.ecarlist.com/lP/2Q/8z/E7/g3/wJ/Y7/dh/uD/Ae/yA_640.jpg Yep...it happens.

RE: Mounting Solar Panels

I had a good idea where our trusses were and used a stud finder to confirm it. Then I used sheet metal screws and sealer. Works great so far. You can see the installation HERE.

RE: Winnebago Factory Defect

Sounds like a troll looking for a class action group but that wouldn't happen here, right? :B Travelon Actually if you do a serch there are quiet a few on here with the issue. HERE is just one example from years ago. Look around, there are more.

RE: Winnebago Factory Defect

And this one comes up again. A few years back there were a lot of postings on this problem, although this one has a new take on it and I agree; sealant is not an adhesive. You can seal it all you want, but if the glue that holds it together fails, it won't hold it down. Great point. There goes the "fiberglass roof is always better" arguement.

RE: Trade option. Does it make sense?

Paul - not even close to what I was saying. I never said the dealer wasn't going to make money - of course he is. To think otherwise is just isn't smart. Smitty - I thought your post was pretty spot on. SS Slacker - you're the closest. :B Here was my point; We know there is $40-$45K difference between them according to NADA, great starting point. That is the one known in this deal. But what if the dealer took in the other coach at $10K below NADA? If he did, he may very well be inclined to trade for the $40-$45K difference. Take a $10K profit, lower his overhead by $40K, and put a coach on the lot that has potentionally more buyers. But what if he didn't? Lets say someone messed up or the market changed and he's in it for $10K over NADA. In that case you'll never trade for the $40-$45K difference. The dealer wouldn't make the same mistake twice. So the bottom line is no one here knows what the dealer might do, and to think they do is silly. Each trade is a new transaction. There is a benefit to the dealer to keep his inventory fresh. There is also a benefit to have good used lower cost units on the lot. So if the dealer is into the newer coach right and the trade is a good piece, a book-for-book or close to book-to-book trade might not be out of the question.

RE: Trade option. Does it make sense?

I think it's pretty funny how all of these non-dealers are telling you what the dealer will do. In your case it's pretty easy, you know the relative numbers, so you have an idea as to what you would like to do to trade. Ask the dealer and find out if he's interested too. Not one person here knows how much the dealer has invested in the one you're looking at; maybe he has too much in it, maybe he's into it right. One thing to consider is money is tight. Maybe the dealer would rather be sitting on a $40,000-$45,000 less expensive used unit than the more expensive one. There are a lot more lower budget customers than higher budget customers. This just might be a deal that works out for both of you. And no - I'm not a dealer. I'm just a regular guy who knows SOME dealers are people too, just trying to make a living. Not all of them are crooks.

RE: Repairing fiberglass

Nice work. I enjoy doing a little body work - as long as it's only a little and optional, like project work, not collision damage. :B

RE: Question...

My coach shifts into 6th gear at 62 mph. So, 65 is my sweet spot as I can set the cruise and stay in 6 th gear for the best fuel milage and distance covering. IMHO, you'd get better mileage by driving slower in 5th gear. I'm thinking you are not correct on this one. Diesels are a different animal than gassers. Depending on the final drive it's probably turning fewer RPM's at 65MPH in 6th gear than it would at 55 MPH in 5th gear. The major factor in fuel/gas mileage is drag created by wind resistance. Higher speed more drag. You must have missed this part; Depending on the final drive it's probably turning fewer RPM's at 65MPH in 6th gear than it would at 55 MPH in 5th gear. and the earlier post about our old gasser. While wind certainly is a factor so is how hard an engine is working.
