RE: Sheets for king size bed

Standard house king size mattress measures 76x80, a CalKing is 72x84, and the usual RV king is 72x80. If you want a perfect fit, you will have to buy RV king sheets from a specialty store. I wasn't that picky, I bought cheap sheets at WalMart, washed in hot water, then added a 3" memory foam layer. It was a good fit but not perfect.

RE: Parking Lots Available for Over-nighting?

Hi, The All Stays site has the same information for free. Jim currently wants $25 per year. Walmart accounts for 4500 of Jim's listings. The Walmart information is available for free from the Discovery Owners web site. Yes, there is a very useful online searchable database: Overnight RV Parking The site is owned and maintained by Jim O'Brien and currently has almost 10,000 locations in the US and Canada. I use it exclusively to find overnight spots when traveling. You are entitled to your preference of course, but I prefer Jim's database. Allstays is a list, not a searchable database, making it much less useful when going down the road. As for pay, I think $25/year is cheap for the service! I can say that, having never paid. ;) Jim gives me credit for every report I submit, so far I have free access through 2016. Jim gives credit of either one or two weeks, depending on the value of the update, to any member. You are welcome to tout your preferences, but please do not criticize when I answer the OP's question accurately.

RE: Coffee Maker

If you really like gourmet coffee, if you buy dark roasted beans and grind them daily, if you drink it black to get the full flavor, there is only one choice: Zojirushi

RE: Towing a 2009 Mini Cooper 6 speed

Well I am just about to get a roadmaster base plate installed on a 2009 convertible. I have two questions for those already towing these. I plan to wire mine as there is little room to install magnetic lights on the convertible. I would have to put one on each side and that's not really practical. I've read people warn against tapping into the mini's wiring system, if anything for warranty issues alone, but is there anyone who has done this and not suffered any consequences? I'd like to hear about problems as well. I'm planning to tow this behind my 27' Rexhall Vision without supplemental braking. Aside from state laws, many have said that the weight of the cooper doesn't warrant them. I too would prefer to avoid using a braking system, so if anyone is towing a mini without brakes I'd love to hear your thoughts about this. As someone who has towed a MINI, I strongly recommend you NOT tap into the MINI wiring harness. I have a friend who owns New MINI Stuffin the UK. He does custom wiring and knows the MINI electrical system better than anyone except (maybe) the design engineer. Even he will occasionally put the car in a coma ;) where the control module has to go back to be reflashed. If you tap in to the wiring, you stand a very good chance of doing severe damage. Just put the magnetic lights on the boot, you will be fine. Another idea, more tidy, is to add another bulb in the tail light assembly then run another wire back. But for your other question about braking, we towed without supplemental brakes and had no problems. Check out the picture I posted earlier, we had to get over those mountains in the background. ;)

RE: The NEW Terrible's Lakeside in Pahrump, Nv.

We eat at the casino about once a week. No changes except the name as yet. GOLDEN LAKESIDE CASINO seems to be the new name. No sign changes are made as of this time.

RE: If you just need a few extra $$$

each month, what do you do? I've tried Craigslist for tech work but that's been very disappointing so far. I'd rather not commit to a campground to work lots of hours at minimum wage or less. Trying to find part time work in the nearest town is usually easier said than done, especially if you're just passing through. If any of you are in a similar financial position, I'd love to hear some ideas. Have you tried Lionbridge? They pay very well for Internet Assessors.

RE: Lucky

Thanks for the response. I was a bit down last night after a few comments from near by campers and feeling a bit guilty. But you all are right I am gratefully to have made it out of Viet Nam alive, survived a heart attack, had a great job and have a great retirement/medical plan. Thanks for lifting me up this morning. Gotta fire this bad boy up we are at Bryce headed to Capital Reef over Hwy 12. Thanks again ....Larry Cheers Larry! We're also "lucky" in that we both worked and now have a retirement pension. Life is good!

RE: Campsite size for big motorhomes - 45 ft or more

My rig is not nearly as long as yours, but I just finished up a 1000 mile trip with a diesel pusher MH pulling an enclosed car trailer (60 Ft.overall)and had no problems at all. While planning the trip, once I narrowed down my list of campground possibilities along the route, I actually called the RV parks and explained what I needed to make sure they could accommodate me. In one case, although on paper it didn't look like it would work, the park manager said he actually had two back-in sites that butted up to each other with no interferences in between them. Together they had a combined length of about 80 feet. Access into/out of the spot was good. Worked out great. We left everything hooked up which made for a quick departure when it was time to go. Bottom line, I highly recommend talking to the parks before hand to make sure they've got what you need. Have a great trip. +1 Also, most of the time I can check RV Park Reviewsand see if the park lists big rig friendly spots. Most parks list the length of their pull thru sites. I've been traveling in a 45' bus towing a 20' car trailer for years with no problems.

RE: TIFFIN ALLEGRO BUS 2012

We have toured both the Winnebago and Tiffin factories, along with several others located in IN. If I were in the market for a production coach again, it would be a Winnebago because of their production line assembly method.

RE: RV's

Hey AprilWhine: How do you get that wind turbine under the the over passes?:h It's a beautiful rig. Gotta do something to keep the house batteries topped off. :B You know, I had not noticed that the position of the bus makes it look like the wind turbine is attached to the roof before!

RE: RV's

As for uppity rich people, these forums have a whole lot more posts about people questioning and implying that the large rig owners are snobs and elitists than posts from the big rig owners complaining about the little people. In my experience, the big rig owners are hard working people who have earned the right to buy what the heck ever they want. They are not trust fund babies and Hedge fund managers, they are educators, small business owners, doctors, accountants, lawyers, project managers, farmers and the like. The only thing they have in common is they are hard working, usually educated and have a love of some of the aspects of RVing, be it the ability to travel on a whim, the ability to sleep in their own bed every night (very important to many sales and management people who have spent many a night in hotels and motels traveling for business), or just the ability to leave the city and get out where there is nature and elbow room. It is a shame that success in this country has evolved into a trait that is not celebrated, but instead is derided. Everyone who makes more money than you do must have cheated. Envy, even when disguised as righteous indignation, is wrong. They could be two retired enlisted military who saved their money while working, and bought a used Prevost with their savings. Thanks for the enlightened post. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/AprilWhine/Bussipoo%20too/f90bbfe7.jpg See now.....that`s just terrible! that should be mine!!!! nice setup. I agree. when you buy used you can have the best of the best, but at a later time! hopefully that will be me some day. And next time take a picture without the sun shining on it! it`s hard to see it otherwise! and please take a picture with a wide angle lens so we can see the whole thing. :B Thanks Dodge guy! RE: RV's

It's really amazing how much people want to talk to us about the bus. Every time I go out, he has an audience while he gives the "bus tour" . We're currently in a city park and feel like part of the area attractions. :B We do remember that prior to looking at this Prevost, we had never seen the inside of one, and until we paid for this one, we had never driven one. If anyone sees us in a campground, come over, we travel to meet people and talk just like all of us do. Jim and Sherry.
